Who loves pumpkin season? (Also this girl!)

Who could use another pumpkin dessert in their recipe files? (Me)

Well, I present to you….Pumpkies!  The pumpkin brownie that is not too sweet and packed with plenty of the orange stuff.  The addition of browned butter and pecans adds another “fall” flavor and texture!

You will need your 9×9 pan for this. Line it with foil and set aside.


1 egg

1/2 stick of butter

1 cup self rising flour

1 cup pumpkin puree

1/2 cup chopped pecans

3/4 cups brown sugar

2 tsp pumpkin pie spice

1 tsp vanilla

In a sauce pan over medium heat, melt the butter, stirring occasionally. When the butter starts to brown a bit and smell slightly nutty, add in the pecans and stir occasionally for another minute, not burning the butter.  Remove from heat and let cool slightly.





Preheat the oven to 350.

Mix the pumpkin puree, brown sugar, spice and vanilla.  Whisk in the egg. Slowly mix in the butter and pecans.

Lastly, mix in the flour.

Pour into your 9×9 pan and bake for 35 minutes. Until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.

Remove from oven, cool, then remove the foil from the pan and finish cooling.


Cut and enjoy!
