There’s nothing better than apple pie! Unless it’s Apple Dumplings, Apple Strudel, Apple Fritters… Can you tell I love apple season? I have recently become a fan of Honey Crisp apples after a life time of being a Granny Smith Green Apple gal; I didn’t know what I was missing!  When I came across a deal on Honey Crisp apples at the local grocery store, I just had to put them to good use. Spiced Apple Crumble Cake!

Try not to eat it right out of the pan! This cake is absolutely delicious when it is served warm from the oven and not too shabby when it is re-heated for breakfast! Who doesn’t like cake for breakfast?

Here is what you need:

 

Bottom layer:

Spice Cake Mix

Water

Oil

3 Eggs

Apple layer:

5-6 small apples peeled and sliced then set in a bowl of cold water with about ¼ Cup Lemon

juice

3 Tbsp Brown Sugar

2 Tbsp cinnamon






Crumble layer
:

1 stick of butter (softened)

1 Cup All Purpose Flour

¾ Cup Oats

½ Cup Brown Sugar

 

 

 

Pre-heat your oven to 350. Grease your 9 x 13 That’s My Pan® Make the cake batter per instructions on the box. Then pour batter into pan.

Drain your bowl of sliced apples. Add the Brown Sugar and Cinnamon and mix until apple slices are coated. Then layer the slices evenly on top of the batter. It should look like this…

Now mix up the flour, oats, brown sugar and butter until crumbly. Then, by hand, sprinkle the “crumble” on top of the apple layer.

Bake at 350 for 30-35 minutes until a fork can be inserted and comes out clean. Let cool and enjoy!
